Actress Mita Vashisht recently shared her thoughts on how OTT helped actors like Vijay Varma, Radhika Apte and Jaideep Ahlawat gain wider recognition and become ‘big stars’. When asked about the difference between TV and Bollywood actors, Mita discussed the same.
In a recent interview to India Today’s sister channel, LallantopThe ‘Dil Se’ actress discussed the growing trend of OTT platforms and the rapid rise to fame of some actors. She said, “When OTT came in 2017, Bollywood actors were initially hesitant to try the platform. Suddenly, it created an opportunity for TV actors and people with unique talent to shine. Within three years, actors like Jaideep Ahlawat emerged on national TV and became a big star and a household name with his show ‘Paatal Lok’. Even Radhika Apte touched the heights of stardom.”
Mita further added, “These actors along with Vijay Varma were really good actors and suddenly they all became huge stars because of OTT. When OTT got all the stardom because of the non-star actors, the established stars (actors) got attracted to this medium. However, a lot of things they do don’t work.”
On the professional front, Mita Vashisht is known for her roles in films such as ‘Taal’, ‘Good Luck Jerry’, ‘Chandni’ and ‘Drohkaal’.
