Jackie Bhagnani has finally broken her silence on the failure of Bud Myan Chote Mayan of a big budget action entertainer released in 2024. Starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, the film was made with a large budget of Rs 400 crore, but managed to collect Rs 111.49 crore worldwide in just 56 days. Disappointing box office performance took heavy toll on producer Vashu Bhagani’s Pooja films.
In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Jackie admitted that the film’s underperformance was a big lesson for him. “We invested a lot of money, and I realized that just the scale is not very good,” he said. He emphasized that despite the grand view and star-staded artists, the audience did not join the story. “The public is always correct. If it did not resonate, I would have to go back to the drawing board,” Jackie said, reflecting the experience politely.
Emotional and financial impact was deep. Jackie revealed that his family had to take his assets hostage to cover the loss. “As a family, we have mortgaged our properties to make this film. We realize that there is no point in saying anything or saying anything,” he said. The emotional weight of the film’s failure was clearly felt, not only professionally but also individually.
Earlier, reports were revealed that Vashu Bhagnani had also sold the Mumbai office of Pooja Films to pay an amount of Rs 250 crore. Additionally, the producer allegedly filed a financial fraud case against the film’s director, Ali Abbas Zafar, which added more controversy to the already troubled project.
Beyond her professional life, Jackie has also been in the headlines for her personal journey. She married actress Rakul Preet Singh on 21 February 2024 at an intimate ceremony in Goa. During the 2020 lockdown, their relationship blossomed, which Rakul described as the beginning of his biological connection. “We were just hanging, without any aspect we are,” he shared in a previous interview.
Jackie Bhagnani and Rakul Preet Singh have often shared a glimpse of their strong bond on social media, which shows the relationship formed on mutual respect and comfort. The couple, who were almost neighbors before dating, found companionship during the Kovid -19 lockdown. Since their marriage in Goa, they continue to support each other in both personal and professional, emerging as one of the most new and old couples in Bollywood.
