Pamela Anderson is starring in her new film and first movie since 2022, The Last Showgirl, which she considers a dream role. She revealed that she has been training for the role every day of her life.

Following the film’s world premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, the Scary Movie 3 star said it was the first time she had coherently chosen a script and that she was the only person who could develop the character. “I think I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life,” she told People.

Anderson further explained how hard she worked to get the role. Anderson plays Las Vegas showgirl Shelly in The Last Showgirl. She told the outlet, “I’ve never felt so deeply about anything, so after that, I thought, ‘You know, I have nothing to lose. I’m just going to do it, that’s all I’m going to do.'”

Written and directed by Gia Coppola, The Last Showgirl is Pamela Anderson’s latest work after a break of more than a decade in television acting. It stars veteran actors such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka and Billie Lourd. The film follows the life of a middle-aged showgirl who loses her job after her long-running show closes. She is confused about what her future holds and tries to reconcile with her daughter, with whom she has also lost touch.

Sharing her enthusiasm for the project, Coppola expressed her delight at the cast and Anderson’s strong performance. She told Deadline how she had always looked forward to filming in Las Vegas. She reflected on Anderson’s performance and praised her for her ‘courageous and heart-rending performance.’

Curtis also couldn’t contain her excitement over the Baywatch star’s performance, praising her smart, soulful spirit as well as her bold decision to step away from the spotlight and pressures that come with show business.

Pamela Anderson’s most recent award-winning project is a Netflix documentary called Pamela, A Love Story, produced by her son Brandon Lee, which received two Emmy nominations. In 2023, she also appeared in the Broadway show Chicago Musical and will next be seen in the Naked Gun movie alongside Liam Neeson.
