Liam Payne’s former partner Cheryl, best known for her time in pop group Girls Aloud, has been left heartbroken by his tragic passing. The singer, who has a seven-year-old son named Bear with Payne, broke her silence on the “earth-shattering event” via an Instagram post.

On October 18 – two days after the One Direction alumnus fell to her death from a third-floor balcony at the Casasur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina – Cheryl expressed her grief over the loss with an old photo of her newborn son and the late musician. ,

Apart from paying tribute to her former partner, she shared a touching message about protecting her son from media exploitation in the future. “As I try to come to terms with this earth-shattering event and deal with my grief at this indescribably painful time, I would like to remind everyone that we have lost a human being,” she wrote.

Cheryl reminded everyone that Payne is not just a pop star but a son, a brother, a friend, and the father of a seven-year-old son who “has to face the reality of never seeing his dad again.” She expressed her fear over media exposure that in the future her son would have access to “the disgusting reports and media exploitation that he has seen over the past two days cannot be protected from that in his future,” she added.

Promise The singer dismissed reports made on air that all the survivors left after picking up the pieces were left with nothing but loss. “Before leaving comments or making videos, ask yourself if you would want your child or family to read them,” she said. Cheryl appealed to the public to give the late singer “a little dignity” following his death and give him “some peace at last”.

The musical couple met on the sets of The X Factor in 2008. Although Payne was a contestant and Cheryl was a judge, their friendship turned romantic and they welcomed their son, Bear, in 2017. They separated in 2018 but remained and continue to be on good terms. Co-parent until Payne’s death.
