
As authorities expand their search effort to capture the masked assailant who shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Internet detectives are refusing to provide any help. The killer fired several rounds at Mr Thompson from behind using a gun fitted with a silencer in the early morning. He fled the scene on a bicycle before entering Central Park, with police claiming he may have fled the city by bus. Several videos and still images circulating on social media show the gunman calmly going about his business after the killing.
Despite a trail of evidence, authorities have been unable to catch him so far. Online armchair detectives and true crime enthusiasts, who typically solve such cases, have been reluctant to offer any help, primarily due to the healthcare company’s history in denying claims from people in need.
Michael McWhorter, known as Tiziant on social media, where he posts true crime and viral news content, said the community was indifferent to the death of Manhattan’s top CEO.
In one video Mr McWhorter said, “I have yet to see a single video drumming up ‘We have to find her,’ and that’s unique,” adding: “And in other situations there is no kind of coercion There’s violence, I’ll definitely see that.”

Savannah Sparks, who has 1.3 million followers on social media and has previously helped train police officers on how to track suspects online, told nbc newsWhen asked if she was working to find the suspect, she said, “Absolutely not.”
Another online spy, going by the name thatdaneshguy, told his followers in a video: “I don’t have to encourage violence. I don’t have to condone violence in any way. But I don’t have to help either.”
Danesh said he had removed a photograph that could have helped police find the killer because he did not want to “incidentally help”.

Reward offered for anyone who identifies the gunman
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is offering $50,000 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunman. The FBI reward is in addition to the $10,000 reward offered by police. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), based on the evidence collected so far, the attack appears to be pre-meditated.
Bullet casings found at the scene were engraved with the words, “Deny,” “Defend” and “Delete” – three principles employed by insurers to deny claims, and described in a 2010 book critical of the industry. which is titled delay denial defense,
