A 45-year-old Indonesian man allegedly killed his 60-year-old neighbour Asgim Irianto after he repeatedly asked him why he was not married. The incident took place on July 29 in South Tapanuli Regency, located in North Sumatra. The Straits Times informed of.

According to Assistant Police Commissioner Maria Marpang, the victim of the deadly attack has been identified as 60-year-old retired civil servant Asgim Irianto. The attacker, Perlindungan Siregar, was reportedly hurt and upset by the victim’s persistent questions about his marital status.

According to the statement of the victim’s wife, Siregar arrived at the victim’s house on July 29, carrying a piece of wood in his hand and attacked him without warning. Mr. Iriyanto tried to run out into the street to escape. However, Siregar chased him, caught him and dealt a fatal blow to his head. Although he fell to the ground, Siregar continued to beat him brutally.

Fortunately, locals intervened, stopped the fight and rushed Mr Iriyanto to the hospital. However, he died before reaching the hospital.

“He was determined to beat Mr. Asgim to death because he was often taunted over his bachelorhood,” AKP Maria said.
