Indian student wins the memory competition by remembering 80 points in 13.5 seconds

Vishwa Rajkumar, a 20 -year -old Indian student, has won the Memory League World Championship by remembering the order of cards, numbers, names, images and words. Mr. Rajkumar was able to remember the order of 80 random digits in just 13.50 seconds. According to the official website of the Memory League World Championship, he was able to remember 30 images in only 8.53 seconds.

Mr. Rajkumar, who is from the Mankula Vinayagar Institute of Technology in Puducherry, was against 16 people in the championship, which is held online.

Participants were shown briefly 80 random numbers on the screen. Subsequently, he was required to write those people on a ‘recall sheet’.

According to the official website, “16 contestants from the top of the Memory League World Ranking will compete remotely in a double-elimination tournament to determine the 2025 Memory League World Champion. All contestants start in the main bracket. The match loses. In the main bracket, they fall into the repechage bracket.

Talking to The New York Times, Mr. Rajkumar opened about how he prepared for the competition. According to the age of 20, the key is “hydration”. He said, “Hydration is important because it helps in your brain. When you remember things, you usually do the by-disbursement, and it helps in a clear throat.”

“If you don’t drink too much water, your speed will be slightly less. If you drink too much water, it will be clear and you can read it fast,” he said.

When asked about his memory palace, Mr. Rajkumar said that it starts from his room, followed by kitchen, hall, verandah and bathroom.

Mr. Rajkumar also discussed his plans, including becoming a memory trainer and creating a memory institution in India to teach these techniques to other people.

The Memory League World Championship, a fast-paced memory game tournament, was held from 5 January to 2 February. Each match in the competition has five rounds and the player who wins the most rounds becomes the world champion.
