Indian man convicted of sexually abusing children in Michigan, arrested by ICE; Student visa canceled in 2024

ICE has arrested an Indian-origin man accused of child sexual abuse in Michigan.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of Nava Kunal Tupili, an Indian man who was previously convicted of sexual exploitation of minors. “Nav Kumar Tupili, a criminal illegal alien from India, has been convicted of using a computer for immoral purposes involving children and using a computer to commit a crime in Wayland, Michigan,” the Department of Homeland Security said. ICE said the man was already in ICE custody because he was living in the United States illegally. Tupili had entered the US on a student visa that was revoked in 2024, ICE said, adding that the county jail honored the ICE detainer and referred him to ICE rather than releasing him.Last weekend, ICE arrested criminal illegal aliens across the country who were convicted of heinous crimes, including sexual assault of a child, human trafficking for sexual slavery, sexual assault of a minor, rape, kidnapping and other horrific crimes, the department said.“Over the weekend, the heroic men and women of ICE arrested criminal illegal aliens convicted of some of the worst crimes, including sex trafficking, child rape and kidnapping,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Biss. “ICE law enforcement never takes a day off from removing criminal illegal aliens from American communities – even on the weekends. If you see an ICE law enforcement officer, thank them for removing these heinous criminals from our country.The arrests included:

  • Miguel Lopez-Jimenez, from Mexico
  • Charles Amofah from Ghana
  • Nav Kumar Tupili, from India
  • Oluwasegun Farouq Sanni, from Nigeria
  • Walter Pérez-Avila, from Guatemala
  • Ruben Cabrera-Saucedo, from Mexico
  • Starlin Jose Batista from Dominican Republic
  • Herbert Orellana-Ventura from El Salvador
  • Jose Zuniga-Escalante, from Mexico
  • Daniel Jesus Piedra-Fernandez from Colombia
  • Dave Casagrande-Zambrano from Ecuador
  • Alvaro Estrada-Cruz from Guatemala
  • Samir Alejandro Flores-de Leon from Venezuela

ICE said that all of them were convicted in different states and all of them were living in the country illegally.
