Indian government issues high risk warnings for Apple users, what you have to do here
The Indian Cyber Security Agency CERT-in has issued a warning warning of many security weaknesses, high-seriousness to Apple users. These flaws, if exploited, may allow hackers to steal data or control iPhone, MAC and other Apple devices.
Listen to the story

If you own an iPhone, iPad, MAC, Apple TV, or even an Apple Vision Pro, this alert is for you. Under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-in) has just issued a high-seriousness warning for Apple users. The Region? Researchers with CERT-in have discovered many dangerous safety flaws in apple devices, if exploited, hackers can enter your equipment, steal your data or even take full control.
The certificate has expanded the discovery in the vulnerable note Civn-2025-0071. In its warning, it highlights several safety flaws that affects a wide range of Apple products and urge users to update their equipment immediately. According to the certificate, the discovered weaknesses can allow the attackers to reach sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass safety security, get advanced privileges, manipulate data, manipulate data, or even spuofing and refusal-service (DOS) attacks.
Who is at risk?
Apple is advised in both individual users and organizations using apple devices. IOS, MACOS, Safari, or above are particularly weak using older versions of the other Apple platforms mentioned above. It includes many types of devices like iPhone, iPad, MacBook, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro Headset. Certificate urges users to update their devices immediately. Without the required updates, users risk potential data violations, loss of device control and service disruption.
Weaks affect the following Apple software versions:
iOS: Edition before 18.4, 17.7.6, 16.7.11, and 15.8.4
iPados: Edition before 18.4, 17.7.6, 16.7.11, and 15.8.4
Mac OS: Sonoma before Sex Version 15.4, before 14.7.5, and Ventura before 13.7.5
Tvos: Edition before 18.4
Visionos: Edition before 2.4
Safari browser: Edition before 18.4
Xcode: Edition before 16.3
what’s the risk?
In its note, the certificate classified the severity of these weaknesses as high, emphasizing that it has been exploited, it can pose a serious risk for both individual and enterprise users. Exploitation of these flaws can allow hackers to control an affected device or reach individual and financial information without consent.
The certificate states that these safety holes exist due to technical disturbances in Apple’s software code. Some major problems include:
- Type confusion errors (where the system describes data types wrong)
- Use-free defects (where removed data can still be accessed)
- Out-off-bounds read/writes (allows access to unauthorized memory areas)
- Improper input check (failed to properly verify the data provided by the user)
- Buffer overflow (where too much data crash or system corrupt)
- Path handling issues (safety intervals in processing file locations)
Researchers noted that such weaknesses can be used from far or locally, based on defects, and are considered particularly dangerous when users delay in setting up the safety updates.
How to protect your apple devices
To prevent its apple devices from being hacked, certificate-in strongly recommends that all apple users apply the latest security updates issued by Apple. These patch is designed to fix the weaknesses identified and to protect the equipment from known exploits.
Apple has already released the necessary security updates, and users can find detailed guidance on Apple’s official security update page.
To update your Apple device:
On iPhone/iPad: Go to Settings> General> Software Update
On Mac: Open System Settings> General> Software Update
On Apple TV and other equipment: Navigate on the system update option under settings
Meanwhile, Apple also suggests users to enable automated updates. This will allow their devices to achieve timely installation of future patch.
