India is a major player in the global vaccine landscape, according to the World Health Organization’s total vaccine stock, according to the Health and Family Welfare and Family Welfare and Fertilizer Anupriya Patel during the second policy maker forum in New Delhi on Monday.

In collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, the platform organized by the Pharmacopia Commission of India (IPC) under the Ministry of Health brought together the drug regulators of 24 countries and health policy makers.

Patel emphasized the importance of pharmacies run by John Eyeshadhi Kendras-Sarkar, which provides normal medicines at affordable prices to make drugs accessible, calling them “a powerful tool in reducing out-of-pocket health expenses”.

He also shared that India supplies 14% of all common drugs to the US and is the largest number of US FDA-innovative drug manufacturing plants globally.

Highlighting the regulator power, Patel announced that 15 countries now recognize Indian Pharmacopia, the latest with Cuba. “This is not just about the rules, it is about aligning quality standards, improving the access to the drug and enabling smooth global drug trade,” he said.

The Health Secretary of the Union, Punya Salila Srivastava echoed Bhavna, which included India’s health reforms more than 1.75 lakh Ayushman Aogya temples and expanded coverage through Ayushman Bharat.

He said how, in 2004, out-of-packet expenditure in total health expenditure was 70%, which has reduced by 40% today.

The Health Secretary further underlined that the increasing availability of free drugs and diagnosis has been enabled by the production of normal drugs, given that the number of free drugs provided in sub-health centers has increased from 36 to 106 in the last decade.

He reported that Amrit Pharmacies helped people receive branded medicines and medical equipment at low prices, saying that the platform would be a place where the two sides can work together, share knowledge and plan a future partnership.
