Nicolas Cage about AI

Artificial Intelligence has become a topic of discussion not just in the film industry but all over the world. People are speaking out against it and many are opposing it, some of the big names in Hollywood have also expressed their views. These include Nicolas Cage, who recently spoke about how scared he is of this new, advanced technology.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the Ghost Rider actor recalled a moment from the making of a film, when a digital scan of him was created. According to the actor, it matched his eye color, while other physical features were changed.

Expressing his concerns in the interview, Cage said, “I don’t know. They’ll just steal my body and do whatever they want with it through a digital AI… God, I hope it’s not AI. I’m terrified of it. I’ve been very vocal about it.”

He further spoke about artists who are suffering because of AI and others who will face the same fate. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent actor questioned if artists will be replaced, while also questioning where the heartbeat will be in this new technology.

The National Treasure actor also said that he wouldn’t want anything to be done with his replica body and face when he dies.

However, this is not the first time Nicolas Cage has spoken out about AI. Earlier, the actor told Yahoo! Entertainment that he does not take this rapid development of technology positively, calling it “inhuman”.

Other artists are also speaking out against AI

Apart from Nicolas Cage, Emily Blunt has also spoken openly about the advancements in AI.

In May this year, the Oppenheimer actress said that everyone is worried about AI. While praising humans for creating extraordinary technology, she said that people are not necessarily ready for it.

The technology being discussed here was one of the main reasons behind the exhausting strikes by writers and actors last year. This strike shut down most of the Hollywood projects for quite a long time.

Nicolas Cage’s Longlegs will be released on July 12, 2024.
