Korean cuisine is not for the faint of heart. Reason? Their dishes are a fiery combination of spices and bold flavours. Recently, Robert Pattinson tried some authentic spicy Korean food. Robert visits Seoul with Academy Award-winning director Bong Joon-ho to promote his upcoming film mickey 17The director takes Robert on this Korean food adventure. In a clip posted by Bong Joon-ho on Instagram, Robert is seen trying an array of items at a local eatery. Despite it being challenging to eat such spicy food, Robert pushed through with a laugh, making the most of this cultural exchange.
Robert Pattinson kickstarts his epicurean getaway with a bowl of tteokbokki. Prepared from rice cakes, this dish is simmered in a sweet and spicy sauce. Gochujang (Korean red chili paste) and gochugaru (chili flakes) are added for an extra dose of zing. Although Bong Joon-ho assures Robert that Tteokbokki is “light”, it is later revealed that the director pulled a prank on the actor.
Robert Pattinson approves of the taste, but reaches out with a glass of water, unable to tolerate the level of spice. “I’m such a kid, I’m literally sweating already,” he admits. Other items displayed on the table were dumplings on sticks, Korean fried chicken and kimchi.
