During a party hosted by filmmaker Farah Khan, Ed Sheeran told Huma Qureshi that he watched and liked Anurag Kashyap’s 2012 film. Gangs of Wasseypur.

Huma called it the ‘ultimate flex’ moment. He was surprised when Sheeran mentioned the film and expressed his fondness for Indian culture, even expressing interest in making music in the country.
“It was an amazing experience when I met Ed Sheeran and he saw the film,” said the 39-year-old actor, who plays Mohsina in the film. Gangs of Wasseypur. And I was like, what? you saw it Gangs of Wasseypur? When Ed Sheeran was in Mumbai, Farah Khan had organized a party for him and everyone met him there. I was trying to talk to him and he was very sweet. He said, I love your country and I would love to do music here.
He remembered that when he was being taken out, she had jokingly told him that if he wanted to learn some colorful language, he should watch their movie Gangs of Wasseypur. He stopped, surprised, and asked if she was part of it.
When she confirmed, she told him she had just seen the film and liked it. He even called his manager, leaving Farah wondering what he had said. He then shared his appreciation, calling it a “really fantastic movie” – a moment he described as quite surreal and special.
