Huge box office collection: Ranveer Singh’s film crosses Rs 800 crore worldwide with record-breaking earnings in third weekend overseas

Dhurandhar grossed approximately US$3.60 million (₹32 crore) overseas in its third weekend, taking the total overseas box office collection to approximately US$18.78 million (₹169 crore). Combined with Rs. 634 crore from the domestic Indian market, the worldwide gross has now crossed Rs. 800 crore figure, Rs. 803 crores. At the rate at which it is going, the bully is now running towards Rs. 1000 crore mark, which it will reach sometime next week.

The third weekend earnings are a record not only for Bollywood but also for Indian cinema, surpassing Jawan and Baahubali: The Conclusion. This is despite the film not being released in the Middle Eastern regions, which could have increased its overseas earnings by another 15-25 percent.

Dhurandhar is performing exceptionally well in all major markets. It is almost certain to set new earnings records for Bollywood in the United States and Australia, and is very likely to happen in Canada as well. The last two films will also be records for Indian cinema. The United Kingdom may fall short of the record, but the film should still finish in the top two or three there. This is a market where the Pakistani diaspora forms a significant part of the Indian film audience, and given the patriotic tone in the film, it will generally receive limited patronage from that segment. However, being set in Pakistan and based on the Pakistani underworld, it has generated a lot of curiosity, which nevertheless seems to be attracting audiences.

Dhurandhar now looks set to cross the USD 25 million mark, and estimates, with the tremendous momentum, huge spillovers and the upcoming holiday period, are closer to USD 30 million. This may not seem like much compared to Jawan and Pathan’s around USD 50 million, and is on par with some other films that have grossed USD 25-30 million, but here it would be missing the Middle Eastern markets, which could have added USD 5-10 million.

One also needs to remember that these numbers will only come from a $750K opening day. We have two films like Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and Syara, which have done phenomenally well, but both of them were from the light genre of rom-com or love story. Dhurandhar, being an action thriller, a genre not usually known for long legs, makes these tendencies even more notable.
