Priyanka Chopra has always proudly sported the ‘Daddy’s Little Girl’ tattoo and it is one of the actress’ many gestures that show her love for her father. Recently, his mother Dr. Madhu Chopra recalled how she was facing problems when she wanted to take her ailing father Ashok Chopra to America for treatment. However, Priyanka Chopra’s co-star, Hrithik Roshan and her father, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, came forward to help her in her weak moments.
Dr. Madhu Chopra sat down for a detailed conversation with YouTube channel Something Bigger Show. Among many other things discussed on the show, she recalled how her family faced emotional and travel-related challenges when she had to take her husband and Priyanka’s ailing father Ashok Chopra to Boston, US for treatment .
For those unaware, Ashok Chopra was diagnosed with cancer, and his brother suggested he move to Boston to seek advanced treatment despite his slim chances of recovery. But, when he planned to travel, he faced logistical challenges as airlines were hesitant to fly him after he provided the necessary medical information about his case.
Amidst this turmoil, Priyanka was shooting for her popular film Krrish, directed by Rakesh Roshan and starring Hrithik Roshan in the lead role. During the shoot, he saw Chopra stressed and asked about his problems. When he learned about the logistical challenges his father faced in traveling for treatment, he came forward to help him.
Dr. Madhu Chopra said, “She shared her concerns with him. Hrithik asked her, ‘Why are you crying?’ Then, both father and son made it possible for the airlines to take us. They helped us, in a word – they knew people.”
Apart from the father-son duo’s vital support, Dr Madhu said her husband, Dr Ashok, was reluctant to share the news about his illness with others. He wanted it to remain private among their family, which added more emotional difficulty for her because she didn’t know how to deal with the empathy or resolve her fear.
However, the help of Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan proved vital for them and they were able to continue the treatment of Priyanka’s father. But, he died of cancer in 2013, leaving a deep void in the hearts of his family.
