Let’s be honest – who doesn’t love a good dessert? A bowl of kheer or a slice of cake can change any day. But when sugar cravings take over, it feels like you’re losing control, doesn’t it? Well, these intense cravings could be your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong! Yes, health experts say that extreme cravings can be caused by blood sugar imbalances, not getting enough protein, stress or other medical reasons. While some issues require a doctor’s consultation, some simple changes in your routine can help curb those cravings.

Ayurvedic expert Nidhi Pandya has a very simple solution for this – just chew your food properly! She has explained it in detail on her Insta, @my_ayurvedic_life, and we are all ready to hear from you.

Chewing food may be the key to curbing sugar cravings

According to Nidhi Pandya, if you chew your food for a long time, it starts to taste sweet. This is due to a secret enzyme called amylase present in your saliva. Amylase breaks down the complex carbohydrates present in your food into simple sugars like maltose. It starts the digestion process in your mouth itself, and gets mixed with your food when you chew it.

And before you know it, you’ve satisfied your sweet cravings – and you won’t even realize it!

Other Benefits of Chewing Your Food Like a Pro

Nidhi Pandya says that chewing your food doesn’t just curb sugar cravings; it also helps with weight management, digestion and even your oral health. Here are some great benefits of taking time to chew every bite:

Better digestion:

Chewing breaks down those complex carbohydrates and fiber, making it easier for your stomach to do its job.

Keeps you full for longer:

Taking time to chew means you’ll feel full sooner. Your brain will get the “I’m full” message, and you’ll avoid overeating.
