Idlis, dosas, vadas and more – South Indian food is the epitome of comfort in every possible way. It is filling yet delicious and leaves you satiated in no time. What makes this cuisine even more delicious is the variety of chutneys served with it. In fact, you will be surprised to know that each southern region has its own unique recipe of chutneys served with food. One such popular choice is podi – which means ‘masala’. Whenever you visit a South Indian restaurant, you will find that podi is served along with your dosas and idlis, but it tastes different everywhere. Wondering why this happens? It happens because different types of chutneys are made in every region.
Recently we found one such version of podi that includes the flavour of red chillies and garlic. This is the Andhra-style karam podi. While the spice is easily available in stores and e-commerce platforms, you can also make it at home with some basic ingredients.
