Jamie Foxx is opening up about how he and Samuel Jackson helped Leonardo DiCaprio with his dialogues containing slur words on the set of the popular movie, Django.

In a conversation with Vanity Fair, the actor revealed that the Titanic star found it difficult to curse on camera and even after multiple takes, the actor couldn’t get the N-word out.

Recalling the dialogue between DiCaprio, Jackson and herself, the Back in Action star shared that she gave tips to the Oscar-winning actor to carve out his character in a way that is completely different from him in real life.

“Given the subject matter, the N-word especially, Leo had a hard time saying the N-word,” the actor-comedian told the media portal. He added, “We’re doing a reading and Leo says (the N-word) and then he goes, ‘Oh man, hey, guys cut out. I just can’t do it. It’s not me.’ “

Describing the trick, Foxx asked the Wolf of Wall Street star to imagine him not as Jamie Foxx but as his character in the film. He said, “I said, ‘Leo, in the days of slavery, we will never speak to each other.’

The comedian continued to reveal, “So I’m not your friend. I’m not Jamie Foxx. I, you know, I’m Django.’ I said, ‘You can’t play that character unless you really want it. Wouldn’t understand what slavery was about. It was horrible.”

As for the film, its 2012 release was declared a box office hit. Along with DiCaprio, Samuel Jackson and Foxx, the film went on to star Kerry Washington, Christopher Waltz and Walton Goggins under Quentin Tarantino direction.

The film is available to stream on Prime Video.
