Veteran screenwriter Honey Irani opened up about his son Farhan Akhtar’s separation from his first wife Adhuna Bhabani. Honey revealed that it was shocking for him when he learned about the couple’s divorce.
Honey, in a podcast interview Vicky Lalwani Said on his YouTube channel, “I didn’t see it coming at all. It was quite sudden for me. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, this has happened?’ It was a shock.”
She said that Farhan informed her about the decision, although she was away at the time. “They told me, but I was in Coonoor at that time. I was told about it and later, when I came back, we all sat and talked to both sides. I met everyone,” the veteran said.
After sixteen years of marriage and two daughters, Shakya and Akira, Farhan and celebrity hairstylist Adhuna Bhabani officially divorced in 2017. After three years of relationship, Farhan went ahead and got married to Shibani Dandekar during a private wedding held in Khandala on February 19, 2022.
Recalling the separation, Honey admitted that it was emotionally challenging for the entire family. He stressed, “It was sad for all of us, for Farhan and also for Adhuna. But I think, as I have said before, if something has to end, it is better to move forward with disappointment, hurt and resentment.”
Farhan was last seen in director Rajneesh Raji Ghai’s film. 120 brave.
