Hollywood star Tom Hanks criticizes film critics: None of this stuff matters
Hollywood star Tom Hanks has criticized film critics in a new interview, saying that if a film is able to stand the test of time then reviews do not matter that much.
Hollywood star Tom Hanks has lashed out at movie critics in his latest appearance on host Conan O’Brien’s podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. The Oscar-winning star used an expletive to describe critics as they mockingly criticized his contribution to cinema.
Hanks said that a film is first reviewed by a critic, after which the audience considers the matter, “then a lot of time passes when none of those things matter.” Hanks said that ultimately the best judge of a film is time.
“The film exists exactly as it is out of a loser or winner situation or a thumbs up, thumbs down. And then this thing comes along, where it seems like this thing that didn’t work then works now, or vice versa. One thing that was huge at the time is a museum piece and doesn’t really speak to anything. But that’s what we all signed up for. That’s carnival, that’s competition. I trust him, and that’s OK,” Hanks concluded.
Hanks is currently on a promotional spree. The actor is promoting his upcoming project Here, in which he will reunite with his Forrest Gump colleagues, actor Robin Wright and director Robert Zemeckis.
