Actor Aamir Khan, often referred to as Mr. Perfectionist in the Hindi film industry, was once a “nobody” and would get “nervous” during kissing scenes, according to his co-actor Kitu Gidwani. Gidwani, who worked with Aamir in the 1984 film Holi, described him as a “cool and simple” person during the early days of his career.

In a recent interview with YouTuber Siddharth Kannan, Kitu recalled, “In those days, Aamir Khan was a nobody! He had just started his career in cinema. He is a person who loves cinema. He was creative. I didn’t know who Aamir was. He was very polite and calm when we had to kiss. I can call him a very simple actor. “

Reflecting on how she got the role in Ketan Mehta’s Holi, a coming-of-age drama, Kitu shared, “We were all crazy people in the Film Institute campus. Ketan ji (filmmaker Ketan Mehta) told me Asked, ‘Kittu, recently you have mostly been seen in the film institute… So I said, ‘Yes, I have been doing student films.’ Suddenly he said, ‘Will you do Holi?’ I was like, ‘What’s Holi?’ He said, ‘This is a film that I am doing.’ And that’s how it all happened.”

Talking about her role in the film, she said, “I just played the sexy girl on campus. At that time, it was not about money or any moves. We did what we liked.”

Holi, which starred Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Ashutosh Gowariker among others, was a student project for the Indian Film and Television Institute in Pune. The film was shot mainly on the college campus.

Sharing her experience of working with Naseeruddin Shah, Kitu said, “Naseer is quite polite when it comes to his co-actors. I joined his theater group, Motley Crew. For us, work was more important. For Naseer, work is worship.” He was our friend, but I saw him as my guru, I did not feel like respecting him.

Kitu Gidwani, best known for his TV show Swabhiman, was last seen in the 2020 anthology film Ghost Stories.
