Sean Diddy Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo revealed that the music legend, who was arrested in Manhattan on September 16, is in “treatment and therapy,” as reported by People magazine.
Following Diddy’s arrest on Monday, he was allegedly charged with conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution the next day, according to a federal indictment.
According to the outlet, during the Bad Boy Records founder’s Sept. 17 arraignment hearing, Agnifilo said without going into depth about his treatment and maintaining confidentiality that the rapper “is in treatment and therapy for the things that he most respectfully needs treatment and therapy for and he’s receiving that.”
The lawyer called Diddy an imperfect person and talked about toxic relationships and drug use, which were common things in his “toxicity” according to Agnifilo. He also said that he should be praised for opting for therapy at the age of 54.
According to the publication, Diddy, who is awaiting his trial, pleaded not guilty in court and was denied bail and remains in custody. Prosecutors reportedly claimed that during his arrest on Monday, there was something in his hotel room in Manhattan that looked like drugs.
Details of his indictment were reportedly made public on Tuesday, and it accuses him of forcing victims to participate in “freak outs,” which are described in the filing as “elaborate and staged sex performances.”
He is accused of using substances such as ketamine, cocaine and oxycodone and using his influence to force his victims to engage in “freak-acts.” All of this was allegedly recorded on camera and the victims were unaware of it.
According to the publication, when Diddy’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami were raided in March, more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil were found among his “odd things.”
In his indictment, prosecutors reportedly claimed his physical abuse began as early as 2009. The disgraced rapper is accused of dragging, kicking, punching, and throwing objects at his victims during the alleged incidents, which were sometimes witnessed by other individuals.
He will appear in court on September 18 to appeal the decision to deny him bail. A separate conference hearing is scheduled for the rapper on September 24.
