Saudi Arabia also announced that, as usual, priority for Haj participation this year would be given to those who have not done pilgrimage before.
The 2025 Haj season is expected to be on the basis of the moon’s philosophy of June 4-6. In Islam, the pilgrimage of Mecca is an essential religious duty for those who are physically and financially capable of performing at least once in their lifetime.
Saudi Arabia tightly controls the annual pilgrimage, allocates a specific quota to each nation, as the influx of unauthorized pilgrims has promoted severe congestion in the past. To avoid any such incident, Riyadh has announced that he will now issue only single-entry visas for tourism, business and family tour, suspending several-entry visas of the last one year indefinitely.
Policy change affects passengers from 14 countries, including Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, Tunisia and Yemen.
Meanwhile, registration for domestic Haj pilgrims including Saudi citizens and residents has been opened through the Nusuk app, which serves as an official platform for Haj registration. Applicants are required to update their health details, add peers and submit a Maharam (male guardian) discount request if necessary. Once the registration is completed, applicants will be informed when Haj package booking is available.
