Guru Randhawa and Jonita Gandhi have collaborated with dance-pop sensation The Chainsmokers for a new single ‘Addicted’. The track was released on August 30, which also happens to be Guru Randhawa’s birthday. Brazilian DJ Zarb and German hitmaker Ink have also collaborated for the project.
The single marked a culturally significant moment for India, as Indian singers brought Desi music to the Western stage, and showcased the musically smooth and lyrically liberated Punjabi verses on an international record.

“Our music has always been about connection, and we have so many incredible fans in India who we love. There’s no better way to connect with them authentically than by teaming up with artists like Jonita and Guru and bringing their culture and style into our song. These collaborations don’t always work, but we felt really strongly about how well they maintained the integrity of the song but elevated it even further with their talent,” said Drew Taggart and Alex Paul of The Chainsmokers.

Guru Randhawa said, “Music has the power to connect people across cultures and borders. I am thrilled to bring a new Indian flavour to this global chartbuster by The Chainsmokers and Zarb. It has been an exciting journey to reimagine a song that has been a hit with the Indian diaspora and give it a new life. We can’t wait for everyone to hear it and I hope you love it as much as we loved making it for you.”

Jonita further added, “’Addicted’ was already a great track and it’s really exciting for me to get the chance to add my voice to it along with Guru Randhawa. It’s an honour to feature in a song with The Chainsmokers, Zarb and Ink and I hope our version will resonate with audiences across the world!”

The Chainsmokers have been a consistent force on the EDM, dance and pop charts since their breakthrough, which includes multiplatinum hits like “Roses,” the Grammy Award-winning “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Closer,” which reached No. 1 in 11 countries.

‘Addicted’ also features industry hitmakers Zarb and Ink, who have collaborated with the likes of Coldplay, Diplo, Sam Feldt, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Childish Gambino and Stevie Wonder, among many others.

Produced by THE HALO GROUP and TH3RD BRAIN and A&R’d by Taylor Jones, this new version is also co-written and produced by Alawon and Taylor Jones (known for his extensive work in K-Pop).

“It was an amazing experience working with Zarb and The Chainsmokers on this remix of Addicted. It was so much fun to bring a new spin to the production with two of the finest Indian artists, Jonita Gandhi and Guru. I hope people around the world enjoy this version,” said the 29X Billboard #1 producer.

Early versions of ‘Addicted’ received over 140 million views. It also reached number one on Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Air Play chart.
