Actress Sadia Khatib has rubbished plagiarism rumors surrounding her grandmother’s wedding, which has been headlined by Neetu Kapoor and Kapil Sharma. His reaction comes amid comparisons with a Pakistani telefilm of the same name.

The film has recently gained attention following speculations that it may have been inspired by a Pakistani telefilm, which was reportedly set to air in March 2026.
Directed by Neetu Kapoor and Kapil Sharma, the film also marks the Bollywood acting debut of Neetu’s daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Directed by Ashish R Mohan, the film tells the story of a family head who unexpectedly falls in love and decides to remarry, much to the surprise of his family.

Saadia Khatib responds to plagiarism claims
talking to AfternoonSaadia rejected the comparisons and said that the title of the Hindi film was made public long ago. “We had announced our title much earlier (in December 2025). We did it when we started shooting the film, and this Pakistani (proposal) came much later,” he said.
He also said that the two stories are not the same. Further addressing the rumors, he said, “It’s not that we have copied from anyone. Our grandmother (protagonist) is not like what we have seen in her trailer. It is a different story.”
The Pakistani family comedy of the same title also reportedly explores late-night romance within a family setting.
Cast, Story and Release
Saadia also spoke about her experience of working with Neetu. He said, “Working with her is such a joy. Neetu ma’am doesn’t burden you with the burden of your heritage; she keeps it real. She made everything easy, light and fun for me.”
Ahead of the film’s theatrical release, the producers held a screening on 5 May. It was attended by members of the Kapoor family including Ranbir and Alia. Veteran actress Rekha was also seen in this event.
