In short

  • Updates also include small but useful changes that user interact with editing features
  • Snapseed now divides everything into three sections: visible, fountains and equipment
  • For now, Snapseed 3.0 is live on iOS devices only

Google’s free photo-editing app Snapcid has finally received a big update on iPhones and iPads after years of silence. Version 3.0 update brings a brand-nail design that makes editing easier and easy to use. This is the first major change in the app over three years, and it is clear that Google has not yet given up on Snapseed. While Android users are still stuck on the old version, iOS users now get a fresh interface, a new favorite section and an easy way to reach the devices they use the most. Updates also include small but useful changes that users interact with editing features, especially for those who spend a lot of time to get photos on their phones.

The most noticeable change is the new layout. Instead of the old menu system, Snapad now divides everything into three sections: visible, fountains and equipment. The looks are preset filters, while the tools provide you access to more than 25 editing options. The new Favel Section lets you save your most commonly used tool for quick access, which is a large time-saver for regular users. Export options have also been moved to the top-right corner of the screen, keeping the interface cleaner and less disorganized.

There is also a new grid scene that displays all your edited images in one place. To start editing, you just have to tap the circular plus button under the screen. The editing experience itself has not changed much-you still swipe left or right to adjust the intensity-but Google has added an arch-based slider for more accurate control, and now you can swipe up or down to reach additional options within some equipment.

As a self -devices, they are adjusted and correct (including white balance, curves, and lens blurrs), retach and transform (with features such as healing and percentile), styles (including vintage and black and white), and classified into categories such as Creative, and include double exposure and text overlays. A new film-style filter has also been added under the style section.

A small but noticeable touch update is the snapsed logo – cleaner, flatter, and more modern. And if the updated notes of Google become anything, then it may not be the final change we see. A teaser in the app indicates the message that “more soon coming,” although it is not clear whether the Android version will look equally refreshed.

For now, Snapseed 3.0 is live on only iOS devices. Android users can still download the app from Play Store, but it is running the previous version, which has not seen any major updates for some time. Has Google plan to roll out this overhaul for Android.
