Emma Stone has always rocked her shoulder-length hair, but the actress stunned everyone with her brand new pixie cut on the Golden Globes red carpet — a look we’ve never seen the actress in before. Fans speculated that Stone cut her hair for her role in Yorgos. Lanthimos’ film Bugonia.

The La La Land actress wore a bold red gown for the annual awards ceremony, but her cropped hair stole the spotlight. Last October, she was spotted shooting Bugonia in New York, and Stone was captured wearing a tight round hat to hide her look.

The film marks the fourth collaboration between Stone and Lanthimos in the order of their releases, following The Favourite, Poor Things and Kinds of Kindness. The 2023 comedy-drama Poor Things was one of the biggest winners of that year’s Academy Awards.

The actress arrived at the New York Film Festival event rocking red hair. In a video posted by X (formally Twitter), she was seen adjusting the wig on her top, as reported by InStyle magazine.

At the event, Stone wore a casual black and white dress and a wig of a slightly darker copper shade than her usual red color. She completed her look with a long chain neckpiece and dark lipstick.

Earlier speaking to People magazine, her Kinds of Kindness co-star Joe Alwyn revealed that the Cruella actress was upset about having to cut her long hair and she trusted him with the honor.

“She’s also trustworthy. I cut her hair, which just means cutting her braids, but still!” Alvin said. His other co-star in the film, Mamoudou Athie, said, “He’s very funny.” He added, “I mean, I think you can watch his movies and assume that, maybe.”

The Oscar-winning actress has maintained a low profile since she began working on Bugonia, and this year’s Globes marked her first major red-carpet event since she began working on the film.

Although she was only an attendee this year, the actress was a major winner at last year’s Golden Globes for her role in Poor Things. She also won the award in 2017 for her role in the musical drama La La Land alongside Ryan Gosling and has been nominated six times in her career.

Bugonia is scheduled to release on November 7.
