Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy lost his wedding ring, but found eternal love
Italian high jumper Gianmarco Tamberi has lost the ‘gold’ on the opening day of the Olympics 2024. The athlete has lost his wedding ring. The incident happened during the parade of athletes at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Gianmarco Tamberi was the men’s flag bearer of Team Italy at the ceremony. For your information: He shared the gold medal with Qatar’s Mutaz Essa Barshim at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. The 32-year-old was waving the Italian flag when the ring slipped off his finger and fell into the Seine river. In a detailed note on Instagram, he has apologized to his wife Chiara Bontempi Tamberi. He said, “I’m sorry my love, I’m very sorry. Too much water, lost too many kilos in the last few months. Probably all three things, the fact that I felt (my ring) slip, I saw it flying… I followed it with my gaze until I saw it bouncing inside the boat.”
Gianmarco Tamberi added, “A ray of hope… But unfortunately, the boom was in the wrong direction and after floating more than a thousand times in the air I saw her dive into the water as if this was the only place she wanted to be. A few moments that lasted an eternity. But if this was destined to happen, if I am really going to lose this faith, I cannot imagine a better place. It will remain forever on the banks of the river of the city of love, flying while trying to carry the Italian tricolor as high as possible during the opening ceremony of the most important sporting event in the world. If I had to make an excuse I would never have been so imaginative. I think that yesterday’s misdeed could have a great poetic side, and if you want, we will throw yours into that river as well, so that they will always be together, and we will have another excuse to, as you have always asked, renew your vows and marry anew. I love you, my love. Good luck coming home with even more gold!!!”
