Funky Review: Vishwak Sen, Kayadu Lohar starrer is messy and chaotic with an unstructured story

Funky, starring Vishwak Sen and Kayadu Lohar in the lead roles, was released in theaters on February 13, 2026. After a run at the box office, the film is now available for streaming on Netflix.

If you are planning to watch the movie, here is the Pinkvilla review for you.

plot

cowardice It is the story of Komal, an aspiring filmmaker who decides to direct his first film titled Funky. However, the film’s budget unexpectedly spiraled out of control, causing stress and health problems for producer Sudarshan.

As a result, Komal is removed from the position of director, and Chitra steps in to take charge and complete the project. The rest of the story traces the challenges faced by the team in finishing the film on a limited budget while going through personal struggles and professional struggles.

Amidst these obstacles, Komal and Chitra develop a romantic relationship, and the story focuses on whether they can overcome the obstacles and complete the film successfully.

Good

Funky is a self-aware satire that explores the intricacies of mainstream media, poking fun at formulaic storytelling, particularly the excessive obsession with mythological elements, franchises, and cinematic universes. While the concept and characters are bizarre, the film succeeds in providing some entertainment through its humor, even if the jokes don’t always land well.

Vishwak Sen plays the lead role impressively, and his chemistry with Kayadu Lohar is entertaining to watch. The deadpan delivery of comedic moments largely works, making the film a joy to watch.

While the execution is somewhat average when it comes to technical aspects, the editing has kept the narrative relatively tight and sharp.

bad

Even though Funky has good intentions and a comedic side, the film is based on a very thin plot. However, for a satirical comedy, the jokes don’t always come across effectively.

The lack of setup and structure plagues the screenplay and ultimately weakens the film and the core message it conveys. With lackluster music, the film could have been much more than what was ultimately presented.

Display

Vishwak Sen and Kayadu Lohar Do Well, Funky has turned out to be one of the hit actor’s more entertaining ventures in recent times. Since he has impressive chemistry with Kayadu, the film becomes entertaining to some extent. Apart from this, actor Naresh’s scenes also looked good in the film.

Decision

Funky is an entertaining venture that seems to go awry from the perspective of script and execution. Despite sharp editing and some funny moments, some viewers may feel dissatisfied with the plot by the end.
