While eating at home or at a cafe or burger joint, most of our attention is focused only on the taste of the food. However, when we eat at a fancy restaurant, the taste of the food is just one aspect that is noticed. The other element, which sometimes overpowers the dish, is how it is served. Presentation plays an important role in how the dish is presented. But what happens when the presentation overpowers the dish? An Instagram content creator named Freddy (@quitefunnyforanonlychild) decided to give a fun twist to this idea of serving food on “anything but a plate” in fancy restaurants.
So far, Freddy has posted three funny videos of this series. The video of the second part has gone viral on the social media platform, garnering nearly 2 million views.

In the first video, the content creator, dressed as a server, brings out the starters on a real stone slab and bread on an unpolished wooden board. He serves the soup in the tiniest of cups and says, “Hope you’re not too full with the soup.” Also, the chips are served in pots and the fish on a chessboard.

The fun doesn’t stop there. In the second and most viral video in the series, the server goes to the next level, serving garlic bread on a shovel, sausage and mash on an Ikea bookshelf, vegetables in a water sprinkler, pasta in an umbrella and ice cream wrapped in a towel. While serving food on these bizarre choices of plates, he maintains a big smile and the stereotypical accent of a fancy restaurant staff.

It seems there is no end to creativity. As restaurants experiment, so do the fun videos. Here is the third part of the series, which includes olives stuck on a sieve, tap water served in the biggest jar, quiche on a dustpan and spices inside a large chest of drawers. You can’t miss the panna cotta placed on a toilet roll.

Instagram users can’t stop laughing after watching these videos. Take a look at the comments:
“I’ve worked in 5-star hotels and this is accurate,” one wrote. “The IKEA bookshelf is pretty accurate,” several added. “Then they throw spaghetti right in your face,” one joked.

One visitor recalled a personal experience, saying, “I was served steak on a polished stone slab that had a slope on it. So all the juices and oil flowed onto the wooden table, and cutlery from every table clinked against the stone.” Another said, “I was once served ice cream on a tree.”
