International Friendship Day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of August. This year, this happy day of friendship and love falls on August 4, 2024. As school children, we all used to celebrate this day by tying friendship bands on the wrists of our best friends. As we grow up, most of us do not celebrate this day with the same enthusiasm. If tying friendship bands as an adult is not your thing, you can celebrate this happy day with your friends by enjoying foods that remind you of the good old days of simplicity, fun, and innocent childhood friendship.
Here are 6 foods that will remind you of school-day friendships:
1. Tiffin Maggi
Maggi takes on a different form in the school tiffin box. The noodles get cold and take the square shape of the lunchbox. Now as adults, we may fret over cold food. However, we still can’t think of anything better than the cold tiffin Maggi we ate with our friends.

2. Ice Lollies
There was something special about eating ice lollies like cola, orange, lemon and mango-raspberry with friends after school. The Rs 5 ice candy was an instant relief after a hot day of studying in schools with no air conditioners.
3. Chinese cigarettes and lollipops
The best candy we ate as kids was the sugar cigarette candy. From a distance, it looked like a real cigarette and we would hold these mint sugar sticks like cigarettes and pretend to smoke them.

4. Burger and Pizza Shaped Jelly
No expensive jelly can beat the small packets of jelly we used to eat during our childhood. Though these jellies did not have much taste, they came in attractive shapes like burgers, pizzas, etc.

5. Frooti
As adults, we might have enjoyed a variety of cocktails with our friends on weekends. However, during school days, one beverage used to rule all picnics and birthday parties – Frooti. Maybe this Friendship Day, you just want to enjoy a Frooti with your childhood school best friend.

6. Local Muffins and Cakes
Nowadays, realistic cakes at home with microwave ovens have taken cakes to another level. Everyone can bake at home. But that chocolate ganache cake, no matter how delicious, will never match the local muffins and cakes you get at your local grocery store.
This Friendship Day, enjoy these recipes with your friends and celebrate your special friendship. Are there any other foods that remind you of school friendships? Share with us in the comments section.
