FPIs in January so far Rs. 44,396 crore net sale of domestic equity

So far in January, Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have invested Rs. 44,396 crore worth of Indian equity sold. On Friday, FIIs invested Rs. 3,318.06 crore worth of domestic stocks were closed and markets fell. Frontline indices Nifty and BSE Sensex closed around 0.5% lower.

Foreign investors had been on a selling spree since October, though they reversed the trend as net buyers in December. Last month they spent Rs. 15,446 crore worth of shares were bought.

In just two months of October and November, they collected Rs. 115,629 crore net sale of domestic equity. For the full year ended December 31, they posted just Rs. 427 crore worth of equity was purchased.

In the last 10 years, FIIs have been net sellers six times in January and the highest in 2022 was Rs. 33,303 crore was sold.
