In short

  • Ford CEO predicted
  • Many technical companies are already killing the task force amidst AI integration
  • However, Sam Altman of Openai believes AI will eliminate both and will do the job

AI is changing the workplaces. For some, it is a good thing and a change, for others, it is apprehensive as a replacement of human employment. There is a danger of going away in white-collar jobs, especially, as many technical leaders believe that in the future, AI will play the most white collar role in industries such as finance, law, healthcare and technology. Ford Motor’s CEO is Jim Farle, who is involved in this Dumsde Chorus, says that in the future, 50 percent of white collar employment in the US will be replaced by artificial intelligence.

Speaking at the Espen Idea Festival in a clear conversation with writer Walter Isaqson, Farley said, “Artificial Intelligence is going to change half the half of all white collar workers in the US.” “AI will leave a lot of white collar people behind.”

Farley’s comment reveals the growing anxiety, unlike others, in the future, AI will no longer have only one tool to increase productivity, but will significantly reduce the headcon in administrative, managerial and technical roles instead. And the thoughts of Farley are not isolated. Many other CEOs in industries have echoed their spirit.

Earlier in May, in JP Morgan Chess, Consumer and head of Community Banking Division, Marien Lake, told investors that the bank is expected to cut the operation headcount by 10 percent due to AI integration. Similarly, Amazon CEO Andy Jassi also predicted that a shrinking corporate workforce would be seen in the future, in June memo it has been stated that AI is a “once-in-lifetime” technique that will reduce the need for many current roles. He said, “We will need some people doing some work today.”

AI Startup Anthropic CEO Dario Amodi issued a similar warning. In the May 1 interview, he warned that half of all entry level jobs could disappear within one to five years, potentially pushed US unemployment rates between 10 percent to 20 percent. He said, “We need to stop the situation,” he said, urging both business leaders and government officials urged to face the reality of AI-driven displacement.

According to these CEOs, AI will not only change how we work, but will also define who will work again.

However, there are also opposite views from CEO Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAII, who believe that AI will change the structure of the job. While he admits that AI will do something job, he says it will also produce more. “AI is definitely going to change a lot of jobs.” However, he said the change would take place in two stages: “AI will completely take some jobs away and create a bunch of new ones,” he told Bloomberg.
