Florida: A Florida man was arrested for swinging a knife at a milk crate; charge of possession of a deadly weapon

A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly swinging a knife at a milk crate in a residential area in the Florida Keys, CBS News reports. Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to Barcelona Drive on Big Coppitt Key around 9 p.m. on April 9 after a report of a man acting erratically. Callers told police the man was seen brandishing a knife and attacking objects outside.When officers arrived, they identified the suspect as Elijah Lee Tobridge, 47, of Key West. According to deputies, he was using the weapon to slash milk crates in the area.Despite the aggressive display, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.Tobridge was taken into custody at the scene without any complications and was taken to the local jail. Authorities said he has a prior felony conviction, which could be relevant if the case moves forward.He is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, which deputies described as a knife, and improper display of a deadly weapon.The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the incident caused concern among residents but did not escalate into violence with other people. Investigators have indicated no further danger to the public.
