First look poster of Mahavatar Parashuram out, ready for release in 2027
The Mahavatar Cinematic Universe is expanding with the second film Mahavatar Parashuram based on the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. The upcoming installment aims to present a story of justice and bravery by combining mythological stories with contemporary narrative.
Mahavatar The universe is expanding. After the success of Mahavatar NarasimhaHombale Films and Claim Productions have announced the next installment in the franchise – Mahavatar Parshuram.
The film marks the second chapter in a planned seven-part Mahavatar Cinematic UniverseInspired by the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. The makers unveiled the official poster and first look on the occasion of Parashuram Jayanti.
Directed by Ashwin Kumar, the film will be based on the story of Parashurama, considered the warrior incarnation of Vishnu, who fought the tyrannical Kshatriya rulers who had deviated from the path of religion. Tagline – “Where patience ends, Parashurama’s ax begins!” – hints at a narrative rooted in conflict and vengeance.

Backed by producers Vijay Kiragandur and Shilpa Dhawan, the project aims to present the mythological story in a contemporary cinematic format. Speaking about the film, Kiragandur said it aims to reconnect audiences with their cultural roots while making the story accessible to modern audiences.
The film has music by Sam CS and is set for theatrical release in December 2027.
Meanwhile, the first film in the universe, Mahavatar Narasimha, Traces the stories of the Varaha and Narasimha incarnations of Lord Vishnu, the first chapter in a planned seven-film series. Following the theatrical release, the film is now streaming on Netflix.
Conceived and written by Ashwin Kumar, the film was made on a budget of approximately Rs 40 crore. It grossed over Rs 325 crore at the India box office.
