The first poster shared by Johnson on 28 April through his social media account shows a radical change. Johnson is unfamiliar, wearing cropped black hair, cover-up tattoos, and subtle artificial makeup. The rough-end-tambal image suggests the emotionally acute nature of the film, which documentes their fight in the MMA with the rise of Kerr and the pressure of drug addiction and fame.
Mark Kerr, the two -time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion and four -time Adcc World Champion, were one of the biggest names of MMA in the late 1990s. The smashing machine will detect their dominance in the cage, but also his individual demons – was initially discovered in the 2002 HBO documentary.
As reported by Social News, the film has also shown Emily Blunt as Don Staple, the then wife of Kerr, and includes Camio by MMA personality Olexander UC and Bass Rutten.
With the support of A24, the smashing machine is ready to be more than a sports film – offering a deep discovery of fame, pain and determination.
With the official trailer for today’s premiere, the expectation is more. Both fans and critics are curious to see how Johnson navigates this challenging role, which is expected to be a game-changer in his career.
