A conversation between two political rivals, former US President Barack Obama and newly elected President Donald Trump, at the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter is going viral. Lip readers and experts have attempted to decipher what Trump and Obama were talking about.

Trump and Obama, sitting in the second row, were discussing something sitting next to each other. Trump says something to Obama, Obama laughs and responds. What’s even more interesting is that Vice President Kamala Harris, who had Obama’s endorsement in the presidential campaign, sat across from the presidents and watched them interact.

What do lip readers claim?

TRUMP: I’m over it. These are the conditions. can you imagine that?”

Trump: “…and after that, I will.”

Trump: “Call me later at Foy, yes.”

Obama: “Can you just…it’s got to be good.”

Trump: “I can’t talk, we have to find a quiet place sometimes. This is an important matter and we need to get it out so we can certainly deal with it today.”

British news website Sky News captured the conversation between Trump and Obama and posted a video on Twitter.

NDTV cannot independently verify claims made by lip readers.

Trump cautioned Obama that he would have to “find a quiet place” during the day to discuss an “important matter,” the New York Post reported, citing Jeremy Freeman, a forensic lip reader.

The context of the conversation is not clear. But, Freeman suggests that the former president and president-elect were discussing international agreements at Jimmy Carter’s funeral.

Trump leaned toward Obama and said, “I’m over it. These are the conditions. Can you imagine?”

Freeman suggests the two leaders are talking about the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which Obama signed and then Trump withdrew from in 2018.

The funeral brought a brief moment of unity in a divided America as five presidents – George Bush, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Bill Clinton and Donald Trump – came together to pay their respects to President Carter.

In 2016, Donald Trump became the 45th President of the United States, taking over from Barack Obama after defeating Hillary Clinton. Four years after Trump was out of office and Joe Biden came to power, Trump is back in office and will be sworn in on January 20.

During the election campaign, Obama attacked Donald Trump, saying that the Republican candidate only cares about “his ego, money and position”.

“I’ve said it before and I’m going to say it again, Donald Trump is a 78-year-old billionaire who hasn’t stopped complaining about his problem since he climbed that golden escalator nine years ago. He constantly Complaining, and when he’s not complaining, he’s trying to sell you stuff,” he said.

From personal attacks to criticism of the Biden administration’s policies, Trump’s campaign, which was backed by the world’s richest man – Elon Musk – was no holds barred.

Obama jointly endorsed Kamala Harris but lost the vice presidential election following Trump’s landslide victory, who won all seven swing states.
