The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) raised strong objections in the upcoming film ‘Border 2’ by actor-singer Diljit Dosanj’s casting and Imtiaz Ali’s untitled film, creating a violation of his official boycott.

On 24 and 25 June, in a series of fast-term letters, FWIS T-series president Bhushan Kumar, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, and actor-producer Sunny Deol reached, urged to reconsider his professional cooperation with Dosanj. The Federation has cited its cooperation as a serious concern in ‘Sardar G3’ with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, described as a “a clear violation” of national spirit and industry unity.

In his letter to Bhushan Kumar, FWICE expressed “deep disappointment” over the casting of Dosanjh in ‘Border 2’, a film that respects the sacrifices of Indian soldiers. “Such casting decisions are an disagreement for the sacrifices made by our armed forces,” the letter stated that with cooperation “

FWIS reminded the production house of banning the 2019 direction restrictions with Pakistani artists released after the Pulwama terror attack. The Federation reiterated that it is under complete influence, especially after the recent initiative terrorist incident, which claimed the lives of many citizens including children.

In a separate letter addressed to director Imtiaz Ali, FWIC accepted its contribution to Indian cinema, but urged to reconsider his reports of their reports of collaborating with Dosanje for a film for release in April 2026.

Actor Sunny Deol, who is associated with ‘Border 2’, appealed for his intervention, which cited the legacy of patriotic films like ‘Border’ and ‘Gadar’. “We are confident that the value you have always retained – both on the screen and closed – will guide you to take a stand to suit the country’s feelings,” it reads.

Controversy, Diljit Dosanj’s decision to cast the Pakistani Acto 4 Hania Aamir stems from Dosanj’s decision-he made anti-India statements on social media in ‘Sardar Ji 3’. The Federation states that the Act reflects the “a shocking disregard for the national spirit”, with later cooperations.

FWICE has made it clear that a boycott against Dosanjh stands, and any cooperation with it will be considered as a violation of industry unity and national interest. The letters end up with a call for “responsible and corrective” action from all stakeholders involved.

So far, neither Diljit Dosanj nor filmmakers have released a response to the objections of the Federation.
