Actor Fatima Sana Sheikh has addressed a dispute around her earlier comments about a casting couch experience in the South film industry. He clarified that it was a single incident and not a reflection of the entire South Indian film industry. She said that her words were misunderstood and blown out of proportion, insisting that she had gone from experience.
In an interview with News18Fatima said, “I want to clean the air. It is all a misconception. It is not completely like the South film industry. It was just a special event that happened. I was talking about it in passing and suddenly, it became like this huge thing. It was not necessary.”
Fatima said that such experiences are unfortunately common in many industries. “Every woman goes through it. A woman can walk on the road and a man can be hit on her or can be a cacol. It is present everywhere and in every industry. I don’t know why my words were taken out and blown out of the context.
He concluded by saying that in question the person was a small -time creator or casting director, and should not be seen as a representative of the entire South Industry.
Earlier this year, Fatima spoke of a casting agent of the South film industry, which made her uncomfortable with unfair suggestions. Recalling that moment, he said, “He asked me,” You will be ready to do everything, right? ” I told him that I will work hard and do what is necessary for the role, but he kept saying so. “Fatima said that she pretended to play just to see” how low he could be. “
He also mentioned a separate incident in Hyderabad, where the producers would make indirect but clear comments. He said, “They will say such things, ‘You have to meet people’, or ‘you have to do this and that’, which makes them clear without saying anything directly,” he shared.
On the work front, Fatima will soon be seen in ‘Gustakh Ishq’ with Vijay Verma, Naseeruddin Shah and Sharib Hashmi. She also acts in Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro … In Dino’, who is set to release in theaters on July 4.
