Farhan Akhtar, who is married to Shibani Akhtar, shares a very close bond with his daughters Shakya and Akira from his first wife Adhuna. Farhan and Shibani often hang out with them, proof of which is their Instagram handle. The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actor recently shared that he feels very guilty for his daughters Shakya and Akira, who are dealing with his and Adhuna’s divorce.
During the new episode of the podcast Chapter 2, host Rhea Chakraborty asked Farhan Akhtar how his parents Javed Akhtar and his first wife Honey Irani’s divorce affected him. He then linked it to how his daughters Shakya and Akira handled the separation from their mother Adhuna and whether it was difficult for them.
Farhan said it must not have been easy for Shakya and Akira as they believed their relationship with Adhuna was “solid and perfect” and later “broke apart”. The actor-filmmaker admitted that there was a certain amount of anger and resentment in his daughters about why it happened. He said they will find solace as time goes by.
The Don 3 director said, “When Aduna and I got divorced, I feel very guilty towards them because it had nothing to do with them. So they are kind of emotionally damaged.”
Meanwhile, Farhan’s wife Shibani Akhtar praised his family and how they accepted her as their wife. Calling her family “super-evolved and liberal”, Shibani revealed that she was never made to feel like an outsider.
The actress-singer credited Farhan’s daughters Shakya and Akira, saying they have been raised to be super thinkers. She added that her daughters are aware of the world around them and the social environment and have accepted the family structure, which has made the path easier for them.
Shibani said that she feels very lucky and grateful to the Akhtar family that she can talk openly with Farhan’s daughters and other family members.
Let us tell you that Farhan Akhtar married Bollywood hairstylist Adhuna Bhabani in 2000 after dating her for three years. After being married for 17 years, the couple announced their separation in 2017. Farhan started dating VJ Shibani Dandekar in 2018 and the couple got married in 2022 in the presence of families and close ones.
Talking about work, Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai and acted for the first time in Rock On! As an actor, Farhan has worked in films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Dil Dhadakne Do, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Toofaan, The Sky Is Pink, Luck By Chance, Karthik Calling Karthik, Shaadi Ke Side Effects.
As a director, Farhan has directed films like Lakshya, Don – The Chase Begins Again and Don 2 – The King is Back. He recently produced Kunal Khemu’s first directorial venture Madgaon Express along with Ritesh Sidhwani.
Farhan will now direct Don 3, the third installment of his Don franchise. Ranveer Singh has replaced Shah Rukh Khan for the upcoming film. The actor-filmmaker is also helming Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt’s Jee Le Zaraa in the future. As an actor, Farhan will be seen in the upcoming war drama, 120 Bahadur. Based on the battle of Rezang La, the film will see him playing PVC Major Shaitan Singh.
