Monsoon brings a cool and refreshing change in the weather from the scorching heat of summer. However, it also brings a rise in infections. Around you – at work, at home, at school or in public transport – you will notice people coughing, sneezing or feeling tired. The high moisture content in the air during monsoon enables many harmful microorganisms to thrive, resulting in more infections. In this season, our immunity is often low and our digestive fire is weak, explains nutritionist Arjita Singh on Instagram. Therefore, it is advisable to eat light meals and eat more of simple, cooked food.
Your diet plays a vital role in protecting your health, while more and more people around you may fall sick. Consuming foods that help boost your immunity will reduce your risk of getting infected.
One dish you must make this season is rasam. There is nothing like a good bowl of rasam this season. It is comforting and delicious and can be made easily without any fuss or effort. You can quickly make it for your loved ones, especially if they are sick. This recipe shared by a nutritionist takes only 5 minutes to prepare and then you have to let it cook. “It will boost your immunity and provide relief from cough and cold,” says the nutritionist. All the ingredients used to make rasam, such as tamarind and curry leaves, are full of healthy nutrients and work together to nourish your health from within.
