Bhansali Productions is finally giving the go-ahead to its 2012 action comedy ‘Rowdy Rathore’. While an official announcement is underway, IndiaToday.in It has been exclusively learned that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production company is on track to introduce new titles, even as Bhansali himself is busy with ‘Love and War’. One of them is the most awaited, and has been in the news for years: ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’.
An industry source confirmed that the studio has finally decided to go big on the film and turn it into a franchise. “Bhansali Productions is actively working on several major projects including ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’. It is one of the studio’s biggest franchises with a strong pan-India fan base,” the source said.
Although the cast has not been finalized as the film is still in the early stages, audiences should expect a big pan-Indian star to lead the second part in the franchise. The source said, “Given the massive popularity of the film, the makers are looking to cast a leading pan-Indian star.”
‘Rowdy Rathore 2’ originally starred Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. The film was the official Hindi remake of the 2006 Telugu film ‘Vikramarkudu’.
The film performed strongly at the box-office and grossed approximately Rs 203.39 crore in its lifetime.
