Nine years after the last installment of the Sarkar franchise, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is all set to return to the serious political crime world with Sarkar 4. He is all set to bring back the tremendous pair of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, who make an epic onscreen combination. Pinkvilla has exclusively learned that the film is all set to go on floors from April 25, marking a big comeback for the cult franchise that started with Ram Gopal Varma and Sarkar.
According to a source, the first schedule with Big B and Abhishek Bachchan will be important. “The first schedule will start from the beginning with the Bachchan father-son duo. RGV was keen to start the film, which would be Sarkar 4, a reboot and not a continuation of the first three parts.
The Sarkar franchise has long been one of Varma’s most famous works with powerful performances. The first part, released in 2005, introduced Subhash Nagre as Amitabh Bachchan, a powerful patriarch operating from the shadows of Mumbai’s political ecosystem. The success of the film led to its sequel, Sarkar Raj, which expanded the story and introduced Abhishek Bachchan’s character significantly into the story.
The last installment, Sarkar 3, was released almost a decade ago and left fans wondering if the franchise would ever return. Now, with Sarkar 4, Varma is reportedly looking to revisit the world but with a fresh narrative. If everything goes as per plan, Sarkar 4 will go on floors from April 25, with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan shooting several key dramatic scenes together, a source tells us exclusively.
