The Days of Lives 3 June episode gave an emotional rollercaster to fans, as Salem faced heartbreaking loss and unexpected hope. The episode was concentrated around the devastating news of John Black’s death, leaving Marlena, Brady, Belle and the rest of his loved ones in mourning. At the same time, the amazing recovery of Bo Brady brought a rare moment of happiness.
Kristen gets up early in the demera mansion and finds that EJ is still working on its hospital plans. She reminds her that she needs to follow her promise to bring her mother home. If Cryston catches the end of his deal, EJ agrees.
Suddenly, Rachel shouts from her room. Kristeon runs away to relax his daughter, who had a bad dream about Grandpa John’s death. Kristen assures him that John feels better and he may be able to see him after school.
After settling Rachel, Kristen text Brady that he needs to talk to him about his daughter. Meanwhile, Marlena appears lying in bed, lost in thought, recalling her last moments with John in the hospital.
In the living room, Belle finds Brady already awake. Before he could investigate his father, Brady slowly tells him that John has passed away. When she enters the room, the belle breaks into tears and hugs Marlena.
Brady brings tea to Belle, but Marlena suggests waiting before making any calls. It is still very early. Abe and Paulina are awakened with Steve’s calls throughout the city. They go directly to Marlena’s house.
After seeing Kristeon’s message, Brady comes to the demera mansion. He informs her about John’s death, and EJ listens to conversation. EJ quickly leaves without saying anything. Cryston gets emotional and tells Braddy how much John matters to him.
They discuss the Rechhel and how to break the news. Kristeon revealed that she made a deal to bring her mother back in exchange for her mother’s silence with EJ. Brady is upset, especially when Kristen suggested that Rachel can only talk to her doctor.
In the pub, Kayla broke the news to Roman. They both remember how much John meant for him. Hope to call with good news about waking up boo later. They choose to not tell him about John to give him happiness.
Julie also hears the news about Bo and happily share it with Marlena, until she knows that John has died. She rests Marlena with a neck. Abe and Palina return with pastry and offer support as Marlena processes her grief.
The EJ seizes to pay his honor, but Marlena excluded. Belle asks him to leave, then tells him that he needs time. Later, Marlena hears a sound mail from John. This is a simple message: “I love you, doctor.” She plays it again and again, catching her last words.
