Actor Ajith Kumar bid farewell to his mother Mohini Mani at a private cremation in Chennai and thanked police personnel for arranging the last rites. The film industry mourned at the funeral as the family privately mourned the loss.

Actor Ajith Kumar’s mother Mohini Mani was cremated at the Besant Nagar Electric Crematorium in Chennai on Sunday morning. Keeping in mind the family’s wish for privacy following his death on Saturday, the last rites were performed in the presence of close family members.
The family had earlier said that Mohini Mani’s funeral would be a private family affair. He died in Chennai at the age of 85. The family said he died peacefully in his sleep after declining health. Her death came almost three years after the death of her husband P Subramaniam.

In the video from the crematorium, Ajit can be seen getting emotional with his wife Shalini during the last farewell. In another clip, he was seen with folded hands thanking Chennai Police personnel for the security arrangements made for the last rites.
Ajith, who was in Dubai when the news broke, returned to Chennai on Saturday night to be with his family. He was present with his family during the last rites at the crematorium on Sunday.

On Saturday night, Vijay and Trisha Krishnan visited Ajith’s residence in Chennai to express their condolences. Videos circulated on social media show Vijay arriving home amid security and hugging Ajith before spending time with the bereaved family. Trisha was also seen at the residence, where she paid tribute and expressed condolences to the family.
He was among the many members of the film fraternity who reached out to Mohini Mani after her death. Kamal Haasan, Radhika Sarathkumar and others also expressed support towards Ajith and his family after the demise of the family patriarch.

In its statement, the family said, “It is with great sadness that we share the demise of our beloved mother, Mrs. Mohini Mani, who left us peacefully today at the age of 85.”
The statement signed by his sons Anup Kumar, Ajit Kumar and Anil Kumar described him as the “heart of our family” and said the values he instilled would continue to guide them.
