Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink, eventually set to enter India through a partnership between Bharti Airtel and SpaceX. Airtel confirmed an agreement with Spacex that regulatory approval is pending for bringing Starlink’s high-speed internet services to India. Starlinks, who have long been interested in entering the Indian market, will work with Airtel to find out various possibilities, such as connecting rural areas, schools and businesses through their satellite network.
Airtel and SpaceX Partnership
Airtel and SpaceX partnership will pay attention to ways to expand the availability of Starlink services across India. This may include offering starlinks through Airtel’s retail network and finding out how satellite service can complement Airtel’s current internet services. While Indian users can expect no confirmation on speed and pricing, the purpose of cooperation is to reach remote areas where traditional internet services are not easily available.
The announcement was made after a meeting between Elon Musk and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington, where technology and space progress were discussed. However, SpaceX’s Starlink still needs to secure the final license before starting its service in India.
What is Starlink?
A satellite internet project by Spactx, Starlink, is aimed at providing high -speed internet through a huge network of low earth orbital satellites. Unlike traditional cable-based internet services, Starlink is designed to offer fast and reliable internet access in remote and hard-to-wheel regions. This service works by connecting users to a planetarium of satellites, which bypasses several challenges faced by traditional broadband services, which relate data from Earth and Earth.
Starlink technology is seen as a solution for areas where the construction of the infrastructure of the Internet is difficult due to the terrain or location. The service has already been rolled out in many countries and aims to expand its satellite network for better global coverage.
What can Indians expect?
Once available in India, Starlink is expected to provide download speeds ranging from 25 to 220 Mbps and upload upload speed between 5 and 20 Mbps. The delay will usually be between 25 and 50 milliseconds on the ground, which will suit various types of online activities such as video streaming, gaming and virtual meetings. The partnership with Airtel also increases the capacity of broader access, especially in rural parts of India which are less than the current internet services.
