President Donald Trump said on Monday the United States will either reach a deal with Iran or “finish the job”, reiterating his threat of military action as Tehran defiances after the funeral of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Indirect US-Iran talks ended last week without any public sign of progress toward a lasting peace.“Either we’re going to make a deal or we’re going to finish the job. OK. And it’s not going to be hard to finish the job. I would prefer to make a deal because I don’t want to impact 91 million people,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “We could blow down their bridges in an hour, we could knock out their energy supply… They don’t have any money anymore. We have not given them any money.”Trump spoke after Khamenei’s weekend funeral, where instead of looking weakened by the war, Iranians looked united and determined for what’s next.Iranians call for revengeIranians called for revenge during the funeral procession of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday and expressed their opposition to talks with those behind the supreme leader’s death. “We don’t want any compromise. We want Trump’s head!” They raised slogans referring to the US President. His death has sparked enthusiasm among Iranians as a “martyr”, according to mourner Gholamreza Khanababai, who was also present for the funeral of Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, in 1989.Khanababai said, “If I had to compare this festival with that festival, I would say… the crowd seems more enthusiastic this time.”
