When it comes to losing weight or reducing belly fat, there are a variety of factors involved.

Although boiling water won’t burn fat, drinking enough water and replacing calorie-rich beverages with warm water may help your overall weight loss efforts.

Combining it with a balanced diet and regular physical activity will yield the best results for fat loss and overall health.

“Drinking warm water helps break down fat molecules in your diet more efficiently, thereby aiding weight loss. It is important to ensure that the water is at a tolerable temperature for your body, so as not to burn your mouth,” Dr Vanshika Bhardwaj, senior dietitian at Marengo Asia Hospitals, Gurugram, told IndiaToday.in.

Drinking hot or lukewarm water improves digestion, thereby increasing nutrient absorption and metabolism.

The expert said that hot water is also beneficial for dry skin and also helps in relieving constipation.

Dr Bhardwaj said, “For best results, drink warm water as soon as you wake up in the morning and before meals; the temperature should be around 50 degrees Celsius. A glass of warm water before bathing can also help lower blood pressure.”

Additionally, drinking water before meals can make you feel full, which may reduce calorie intake.

According to experts, warm water contributes to controlling blood pressure, improving skin glow, aiding digestion, flushing out toxins from the body and reducing menstrual discomfort.

How much water should you drink?

“To maximise these benefits, aim to drink at least five glasses of warm water throughout the day,” says Dr Bhardwaj.

According to the latest guidelines from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), drinking 8 glasses of water every day keeps the body hydrated and balanced.
