Do you think you are young? New science shows that your heart grows faster than you
A new MRI scan technique has revealed the possibility of indicating the exact age of the heart and scientists have noted that it is not the same as our age.

Heart Health has become one of the most important aspects of modern lifestyle because there is a stunning leap in heart -related diseases and deaths.
A new MRI scan has now revealed the possibility of indicating the exact age of the heart and scientists have noted that it is not the same as our age.
Scientists at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have unveiled a new way of highlighting their heart’s ‘true age’ using MRI, which offers a lifeline to millions by catching problems before becoming fatal.

UEA’s Norwich Medical School and a advisory cardiologist Dr. Pankaj Garg said, “Imagine to find out that your heart is ‘old’.
The team studied the MRI scan from 557 people – 191 healthy person and 366 with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes or obesity. They then used advanced imaging to measure things like the size and strength of the heart chambers.
The team has now developed a new formula to calculate the ‘functional age’ of the heart and investigated it against healthy hearts to ensure that it was accurate.
“Our new MRI approach doesn’t just count your birthday – it measures how well your heart is holding. We found that an MRI scan can reveal the ‘functional age’ of your heart – how old it is, not how old you are,” Dr. Garg said.
The team found that the age of the heart in healthy people was similar to the age -old age. But for patients with things like diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity and atrial fibrillation – their functional heart was quite older.
Dr. Garg said, “People with health issues such as diabetes or obesity often have hearts that have rapid aging -sometimes for decades. Therefore, it can help doctors to take quick steps to prevent heart disease in their tracks. Garg said.
The recent figures of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) increased by a significant 12.5% increase in heart attack cases alone in 2022, increasing major concerns alone.
