Anees Bazmee’s Welcome was one of the most loved comedy films due to its funny jokes, impressive comic timing of the cast and interesting story. Recently, Paresh Ganatra, who played a small but impactful role in the film, revealed that his popular dialogues were improved by Nana Patekar, whose comedic talent in Welcome is famous among fans.

In a new interview with Digital Commentary, Paresh Ganatra revealed that Anees Bazmee had initially offered him a 20-25 day shooting schedule for Welcome, wanting to cast him in a good role. But Ganatra refused due to prior commitments, and later, the filmmaker offered him limited screen time in the climax of the film, which he expected. So, he went to Lonavala near Tiger Point for shooting.

During a visit to the location, Paresh came up with the idea of a dialogue and decided to share it with the team. He said, “I said Anees Bhai, if I have thought of a line, can we use it? So he said, what are the words? I said, ‘I am only dangerous to look at, but I am a very nice man.’ Told him, man, it’s a good line. The actor felt this line would fit his role and Bazmee allowed him to use it.

The No Entry actor revealed that the scene and the outline of his character in Welcome was ready, but the filmmaker held a meeting with the writers to write it properly. Later, Nana Patekar, who was in the same, reached the spot; He heard the updated dialogue and spontaneously added his own twist. The now iconic line, “Why break me? I wasn’t illegal, why break me?” Completely improvised by Nana, adding to the humor.

Anees Bazmee was happy with the improvement, and the writing of the scene was so good that it became a highlight in the film’s hilarious climax. As a result, fans still remember Paresh’s role in the film.

Welcome, released in 2007 and directed by Anees Bazmee. It is known for its witty dialogues and great acting. It starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Feroz Khan and others and was a box office success.
